# Satsu Onsen

The waters at Satsu are saline — chloride springs that settle into the body with a particular weight, the kind associated with relief from nerve pain and tired muscle. This is not incidental. The place has long drawn people who needed something specific from the water, not merely a pleasant hour before dinner. Inns and family-run guesthouses are scattered through the small settlement, and the overall impression is of a working cure-town rather than a resort — somewhere people return to, year after year, for reasons they might find difficult to articulate but feel quite clearly on the second morning.

Satsu sits along the San'in coast of Hyogo Prefecture, facing the Sea of Japan. The beach is close — genuinely close, the kind of proximity that means you carry the salt air indoors with you.
