• Ajishima 6.45 km² The ferry from Ishinomaki port runs about an hour across open water; from Ayukawa, the crossing is shorter.
• Tashirojima 2.9 km² The ferry from Ishinomaki crosses to Nitoda port in under an hour, and on arrival the pace of the island rearranges itself around the cats.
• Dejima 2.6 km² The fishing harbors line the indented coast in a quiet sequence — Dejima, Tsukahama, Terama, and others whose names appear on weathered signs more often than on maps.
• Ejima 0.32 km² The high-speed boat *Shimanagi* leaves Onagawa harbor and reaches the island in about half an hour, threading the open water off the Oshika Peninsula.
