The sound fills the street before you see them. Thousands of dancers move through central Tottori, each holding a paper umbrella adorned with bells that chime with every step — *shang, shang, shang*. The name explains itself. What it cannot explain is why the sound of that many bells, carried on a summer night, feels like something you needed without knowing it.
